Cookie Policy

Version: 1.0
Effective: September 1, 2026

This policy explains how MoonlitLabs Computing Ltd., a Canadian company operating as Dependably, uses cookies and similar technologies on dependably.ca. Read it alongside the Privacy Policy at dependably.ca/privacy.

The short version: one first-party cookie that remembers your answer to the cookie banner, local storage for your theme and language, Google Analytics only if you accept it, and no advertising or cross-site tracking of any kind.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device to remember information across pages and visits. "Similar technologies" includes local storage and session storage; we use the word "cookies" to cover all of them.

2. Strictly necessary

Name Purpose Lifetime
dpb_consent Records your answer to the cookie banner so we do not ask again 12 months

This cookie carries no user identity and does not track you across sites. Blocking it means the banner returns on every visit.

3. Preferences

Set only when you choose a setting, and used only to remember it. Both are stored in your browser's local storage, not as cookies.

Name Purpose Lifetime
theme Your light or dark theme choice Until you clear site data
locale Your language choice Until you clear site data

4. Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand which parts of this site are useful. It runs only after you choose Accept in the banner; until then, and if you decline, no analytics cookie is set and nothing is sent to Google. Declining changes nothing about how the site works.

Name Purpose Lifetime
_ga Distinguishes one browser from another for visit counts 2 years
_ga_ followed by our measurement ID Keeps the state of the current visit 2 years

What it collects when you accept: the pages you view and how you arrived, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and your device and browser type. It is configured without advertising features, so no advertising identifiers, no Google Signals, no audience building, and no cross-site tracking. The data goes to Google LLC in the United States under Google's data processing terms.

5. Marketing

We do not use marketing cookies, and we do not load advertising networks, retargeting pixels, or social media trackers on our pages.

6. Third-party embeds

We embed no outside services on our pages. The only third-party script that can load is Google Analytics, and only after you accept it.

The banner asks once whether you accept analytics. Accept loads Google Analytics. Decline sets nothing beyond dpb_consent, which records your answer for 12 months so we do not ask again. Your theme and language settings are not affected by your choice. To change your answer, clear our cookies in your browser and the banner returns on your next visit.

8. Your choices

  • Browser settings. You can block or delete cookies and site data at any time. Blocking dpb_consent means the banner returns on every visit; clearing site data means the site forgets your theme and language.
  • Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. We do not serve ads, sell personal information, or track visitors across sites, so we do not change anything in response to these signals. Analytics runs only if you accept it in the banner; the banner is the control.

9. Changes

Material changes are posted here with a new effective date.

10. Questions
